Renewed opportunities at Southall for GWRPG - February 2005

It is intended to make full use of the Boiler House Building in respect of facilities for both members and guests. Whilst the building has been left to deteriorate over a number of years, it is still of sound structure. A surrounding area of the Boiler House, including partially dismantled tanks, will also receive attention and will give additional space for activities.

An area allocated for car parking and storage is also provided for, and the entrance to the site by road will be by way of Armstrong Way - the entrance to the former A.E.C. site, off Windmill Lane, Southall. Pedestrian access will be as for vehicles with additional foot access via the public footpath linking Park Avenue with Glade Lane/Havelock Road. It should be noted that there will be no means of access by way of Southall Station and entrance by this means is not permitted. (Please note that the site is not open to the public - please address any enquiries to Bob Gorringe on 0208 574 1529.)

The reversal of the initial decision by Network Rail in respect of the Group vacating the site has been received very well by members and supporters and we extend our thanks to all who have made this possible.

More news will be published as developments progress. The GWRPG enters 2005 with high hopes for its future at Southall.
