Review of 2006

Review of 2006 - now on DVD

The GWR Preservation Group Limited (GWRPG) has commissioned film-maker Darrin Reeves to produce a review of the Group’s activities during 2006. He has visited the site over a period of time at Southall Railway Centre and recorded members, visitors and the general daily running of our site team.

This film is nearly eight minutes long and shows most of the group’s locomotive stock in action. It is a professionally produced DVD within a special cover box.

The DVD is for sale and can be bought from GWRPG, either at Southall Railway Centre within our sales shop or through the post. Cost is £5.00 with post and packing extra (£1.50) if to be mailed first class.

Please contact mikegorringe@hotmail.com if you wish to purchase a copy. The DVD will be forwarded to you within one week (UK address).

Currently, Darrin is now producing a film on the general maintenance and retubing of the boiler of Peckett Class 0-4-0ST No. 4100 "William Murdoch". This locomotive is owned by the Portsmouth City Museum and was last used at the Hilsea Gas Works in Portsmouth. For other work produced by Darrin, his website address is www.dmreeves.co.uk

2007 Film: Notes on a Scandal

Members were aware that during the end of 2005, we had a film crew on site at Southall Railway Centre (SRC) for a lengthy period including night filming.

This was for ‘Notes on a Scandal’ released on 2007, starring Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett, Andrew Simpson and Bill Nighy. Our site was used for the night-time liaisons of teacher and pupil.

This was not the first time SRC has been used for filming activities and we hope that it will continue with other film companies. Our details are now included in the film makers ‘bible’, so we await more film stars to adorn our location.

How much of our site is visible within the film? You will have to buy it, and watch and see!
