After a lengthy period of hire at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway under the direction of James Wilson, the group’s RSH Birkenhead left their site at 11.00am on Wednesday 8th April on a trailer provided by Reeds Transport.
The journey to its new home and hirer, the Elsecar Heritage Railway (EHR) was completed that day and the locomotive was soon being looked over and inspected by the new working staff to familiarise themselves with it. Aaron Luckarift will be in charge of steaming and maintaining the locomotive.
Resplendent in its polished green coat, Birkenhead is to look forward to varied use at EHR including driver training sessions and footplate trips. This will be in addition to regular trips hauling passenger carrying stock on open days throughout the year up to Christmas 2015. This will be together with their own loco’s; Peckett Mardy Monster, Gervase and Sentinel Diesel newly named Elizabeth. Full details of these can be found on their website, www.elsecarrailway.co.uk
GWRPG Directors and principal members wish them every success with their events
