Birkenhead at Plym Valley Railway – December 2013
22nd December 2013 – Bright sunshine adorned the railway site at Plym Valley Railway (PVR) in Plympton near Plymouth, Devon and the GWR group’s RSH ‘Birkenhead’ stood quietly steaming at the end of the newly finished station platform connected to three brown/cream carriages.
(Diesel 13002 was attached at the rear of the train in case of emergencies!)
Director Mike Gorringe and Julie Haycock arrived to find all coaches cram packed with happy smiling families ready for the first run of the day. They were greeted by PVR Chairman John Netherton and boilersmith Aaron Teifel and during their visit other members including Ivor Stapp showed them the facilities around the site.
PVR driver Aaron Cook took the loaded train away for its North Pole destination along with Father Christmas and his helpers. It was going to be a very busy day concluding a busy month.
