The boiler has now been re-tubed with all necessary small and large bore tubes and will be shortly have its relevant inspection at the Southall Railway Centre. From then on it’s all systems go to totally refit it to return to its former hirer. Many parts have been cleaned and newly painted to be ready for re-assembling and the final test and inspections should go ahead at the end of June.
GWR Heavy Goods Locomotive 2885 – SOLD – Move date amended
This locomotive, currently resident at Moor Street Station, Birmingham, has now been sold to a consortium in Birmingham and will be moved during June to Tyseley Locomotive Museum where it will be restored. The proceeds of the sale will be used to fund other activities within the GWRPG.
RSH ‘Birkenhead’ ’7386′
Necessary remedial work on this locomotive should soon be finished and then it will be on loan to a railway group in the south of England.
A.E.C. Diesel Shunter No. 1
This unique locomotive, that used to move stock at the AEC works at Southall, Middlesex, is hopefully to be loaned to the AEC Society for its Open Days at Walthamstow, London in June this year – See their own website for correct dates and opening times.
Baguley Drewry Diesel Railcar
This former workmans transport vehicle has been repainted and is available for hire.
Much work goes on in the background at Southall Railway Centre and members are currently refitting internal carriage components and have been converting covered goods wagons for use as workshop facilities.
